To All the Saints of Crean Lutheran High School:
Jesus is before all things, and in Him, all things hold together. Colossians 1:17
In this season dedicated to thanks and praise, it is good, right, and proper to give thanks to our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, the Author and Perfecter of our faith, and the One who holds all things together.
The Lord has most certainly held and nurtured Crean Lutheran High School in His loving arms over the past eleven years, providing for it at every turn. That provision has been evident in many ways, including the founding leadership of the school, which includes our Co-Executive Directors, Mr. Beavers and Mr. Underwood, who joined Founding Executive Director Pastor Bill Bartlett in late 2006 to start Crean Lutheran High School. By God’s grace through these gentlemen, Crean Lutheran became the fastest starting Lutheran high school in history, and it has continued to prosper through a variety of seasons over the last 11 years, and it will continue to flourish in the new season that lies ahead.
Today, I am writing to share with you that Mr. Underwood has made the decision to retire from full-time ministry at the end of this school year in order to enter a new season of life that will provide him with more time with his family, as they return to their home in Genoa, Nevada. We lift our praises to the Lord for the excellence in ministry provided through Mr. Underwood’s leadership. His stewardship of his role as Co-Executive Director - Administration has yielded unparalleled growth for Crean Lutheran through endeavors within Admissions, Development, and Marketing; his extraordinary gifts in communication have reflected the light of Christ throughout our community and propelled Crean Lutheran to be known as a truly Christ-centered school; and his exceptional organizational skills and work ethic have spawned a culture of uncompromising execution in all that Crean Lutheran undertakes. We are indeed grateful for Mr. Underwood and give our Lord many thanks for His provision through him. Our prayers are with Mr. Underwood, his wife Allyson, and their daughters, Amber (CLHS, ‘17) and Bryanna, as they enter into this next season of life and ministry.
With this transition for Mr. Underwood, I am also pleased to announce that the Board has made the unanimous decision to transition Mr. Beavers from Founding Principal|Executive Director, Operations to sole Executive Director. Mr. Beavers’ leadership throughout these last 11 years has established Crean Lutheran as an outstanding school that reflects rigor in its academic curriculum, competitiveness in its athletic offerings, and growth in its arts program—yet all firmly rooted in and anchored to Jesus Christ. We believe Mr. Beavers’ expanded leadership role will continue to enhance the mission of Crean Lutheran High School in the years to come and are grateful to God for His anointing of Mr. Beavers for this new season.
Both Mr. Underwood and Mr. Beavers will be collaborating over the next few months to ensure a seamless transition and will continue to communicate accordingly. Indeed, Mr. Beavers is already diligently working towards and preparing for the 2018-19 school year. With his broadened scope of responsibilities forthcoming, and after prayerful consideration, Mr. Beavers has affirmed that Mr. Dan Moyer will be elevated to Principal, effective July 2018. Mr. Moyer is currently in his sixth year of ministry at CLHS and 17th year in Lutheran education. We congratulate him and our prayers are with him for continued blessed service to the Lord.
We have much to be thankful for as Crean Lutheran has been blessed by each of these dedicated and talented servant leaders. Please join me in lifting them up, praising Him for working mightily through them, and keeping them each, and their families, in your prayers.
For His glory,
Chairwoman of the Board
Crean Lutheran High School
